Diabetes runs in my family. Are there any symptoms to look for in myself?
This week's question was from Sam in Selma: Diabetes runs in my family. Are there any symptoms to look for in myself?
According to the American Diabetes Association, the main symptoms are frequent urination, excessive thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss, increased fatigue, irritability and blurry vision. If you have any of these symptoms, you should discuss them right away with your doctor. The fact that you have a family history of Diabetes increases your risk of having the same disease, but doesn’t mean you will definitely develop Diabetes. By eating right and exercising regularly, you can decrease your risk factor. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist to develop a good health plan right away.
